The Accelerator for GBV Prevention was created to support and drive a Shared Advocacy Agenda for more and better funding and policy for GBV prevention. The Shared Advocacy Agenda is a collective call to action for the evidence-driven and transformative effort needed to prevent GBV.
The Accelerator brings together the GBV prevention community to advocate collectively for funding and policies to prevent GBV.
Over recent decades, the work of women’s movements, researchers and practitioners has built a substantial evidence base for this work. The Accelerator exists to build shared understandings of what such policy and programming looks like, and to ensure it gets the funding it needs. We do this in two main ways.
We work closely with the GBV prevention movement – in collaboration with regional and national networks and women’s funds – to co-create advocacy strategies and communication tools and to support movement voices in global spaces and in bilateral engagement.
We build shared understandings and accountability mechanisms for GBV prevention at the global level: engaging donors, governments, women’s rights and other social justice organisations in an intersectional and transformative approach to ending violence.

There are a number of organisations and initiatives building evidence, undertaking research, and funding movements linked to GBV prevention. The Accelerator seeks to support and align with existing work and initiatives, not duplicate.
The Accelerator is not a fund. We are a platform for joint learning, collaboration and collective advocacy, supporting the advancement of financial and policy commitments towards GBV prevention.
These are the GBV prevention leaders who brought their versatile advocacy, funding and research experience to co-create the Shared Advocacy Agenda and Accelerator. Advisory Group members continue to provide their time, expertise and resources to the initiative’s evolution, as we transition to a permanent governance structure.
